چکیده

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) classified with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn Dis‐ ease (CD) is an idiopathic, life-long, destructive chronic inflammatory disease in gastrointes‐ tinal tract [1] and probably multi-factorial disease caused by interplay of the external and internal environment. Little is known about the mechanism of pathogenesis of the disease but it has been reported that immunological mechanisms are involved in etiology. Under normal situations, the intestinal mucosa is in a state of controlled inflammation regulated by a delicate balance of pro-inflammatory (tumor necrosis factor [TNF]-alpha, interferon [IFN]gamma, interleukin [IL]-1, IL-6, IL-12 and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10, IL-11), where particularly, IL-6 stimulates T-cell and B-cell proliferation and differentiation.

Formulation and Evaluation of Chondroitin Sulphate Tablets of Aceclofenac for Colon Targeted Drug Delivery

The aim of the present study was to develop a single unit, site-specific matrix tablets of aceclofenac allowing targeted drug release in the colon with a microbially degradable polymeric carrier, chondroitin suphate (CS) and to coat the optimized batches with a pH dependent polymeric. The tablets were prepared by wet granulation method using starch mucilage as a binding agent and HPMC K-100 ...

Synergistic effects of Radiofrequency Hyperthermia temperature rate with magnetic Graphene oxide nanoparticles drug targeting on CT26 colon cancer cell line

Introduction: Graphene oxide (GO) sheets are carbon-networking nanomaterials offering excellent potential for drug delivery platforms due to hydrophobic interactions and high drug-loading efficiency. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles can be used in certain applications such as cell labeling, drug delivery, targeting, magnetic resonance imaging and hyperthermia. Due t...

Natural Polymer in Colon Targeting

Although oral delivery has become a widely accepted route of administration of therapeutic drugs, the gastrointestinal tract presents several formidable barriers to drug delivery. Colonic drug delivery has gained increased importance not just for the delivery of the drugs for the treatment of local diseases associated with the colon but also for its potential for the delivery of proteins and th...

Perspectives of biodegradable natural polysaccharides for site-specific drug delivery to the colon.

The ability to deliver drugs to the human colon in a specific manner has become feasible over the years. Targeting pharmaceutical drugs to the colon makes it possible to achieve local or systemic drug delivery to this site. To deliver the compounds in a non-degraded form to the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract, they must first of all pass through the stomach, the upper part of the intes...

Colon-targeted delivery of piceatannol enhances anti-colitic effects of the natural product: potential molecular mechanisms for therapeutic enhancement

Piceatannol (PCT), an anti-colitic natural product, undergoes extensive Phase II hepatic metabolism, resulting in very low bioavailability. We investigated whether colon-targeted delivery of PCT could enhance anti-colitic effects and how therapeutic enhancement occurred at the molecular level. Molecular effects of PCT were examined in human colon carcinoma cells and inflamed colons. The anti-co...
